Most of us have no idea what it would be like to live in a world were it is against the law to exercise our rights of free speech.... a place where if we mention the word 'God' or 'Jesus Christ' we may be imprisoned or much worse, imprisoned, beaten regularly, deprived of all common necessaries and yes, tortured for our faith. Does this happen in any culture in this day and age in which we are living?
The answer to that question is 'yes'. Difficult as it may seem for us to imagine such a way of life, this is the way it is for those who profess the name of Jesus in communist controlled China. This is a place where the Bible cannot be found in any local library, and Christian bookstores do not exist!
If fact these conditions have driven the church in Mainland China underground. This is a place when the written Word of God is cherished and devoured by these precious believers. They may not know as much as you or I ABOUT God, but they DO KNOW God personally in a way we may never quite understand. We in the west , for the most part have lived in a hot-house with regards to our spirituality as compared to the conditions of our brothers and sisters in Mainland China.
In spite of these conditions, the church is growing at a rate surpassing all other nations. The bottom line is their great need for the Word of God in their native language. As you read these words , God is providing you with an opportunity you may never have again this side of heaven. You can be used mightily of Him!
